Equipment
We use a variety of equipment, including, but not limited to the following:
Video Cameras
Video cameras also come in a variety of flavors. When purchasing a camera, make sure it has night vision capabilities! Very important!
The camera should either be a MiniDV or contain a hard drive (preferred) for recording purposes. Hard drive files are much easier to transfer to a computer for review and editing purposes.
Most common video cameras for our group: Sony DCR SR47, Sony DCR HC52
If you stick with one brand, you are more likely to be able to interchange batteries and/or accessories.
Digital Still Cameras
General Specs for Cameras: Minimum 10 megapixel with removable SD card for easy sharing.

For Extended Investigations (over 2 hours) we also bring along a variety of external hard drives and laptops to record extended video session in multiple locations. We try to provide ‘full blanket’ coverage with digital audio recorders in every room of an investigation site. We have multiple camera setups so we can continually monitor ‘hotspots’ plus each team has individual hand-held video and still cameras.
